Assessment Increase – UPDATE
Lot Owners: Item #1 in the recent ballot was recently determined to have passed but has now been determined to have failed based on legal advice.
According to the bylaws an assessment increase requires passage by 66% of the ballots cast. This vote was 457 yes votes to 236 no votes.
That’s 65.945166%, literally less than a single vote, but after consulting with legal counsel it was determined that mathematical rounding in this case is not advised.
The majority of the lot owners have spoken and we thank you for your support and your desire to help improve a very old infrastructure and a park in much need of upgrades and improvements. You were the vast majority. Unfortunately, because of the bylaws, in this case the few nay sayers have spoiled it for the majority.
Algae Bloom – Big Lake (UPDATE – 7/28/2020)
Friday & Monday the Board had conversations with Missouri Conservation Dept & Health Department. This was the result of a lot owner reporting the blue green algae to the Missouri Dept of Conservation. As explained today by the Health Department, blue green algae is common when there is a combination of hot temperatures and non-moving water.
Shortly after the picture was submitted to the government agency we had a rain that washed the algae down stream. In the conversation on Monday (the 27th) with the 2nd government agency, Health & Human Services, Greg had minimal concerns. He explained how it happens and a couple of unofficial tests that can be run to possibly determine if the algae is just common algae or blue green algae. The situation was explained, along with advising to post signs at all comfort stations and lakes. The Association posted the documents Saturday morning as suggested.
The State of Missouri has no regulations pertaining to blue green algae. Greg’s suggestion – “When in doubt stay out.”
As always, all of our lakes are “swim at your own risk” bodies of water.
LOT OWNERS PLEASE READ (7/24/2020):
We’ve been made aware of some algae in the Canyon View Lake, between the boat ramp and the dock that is potentially harmful. The Dept. of Natural Resources is aware and we are trying to consult with the Health Department for advice.
We’re asking everyone, FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY, PLEASE STAY OUT OF CANYON VIEW LAKE until further notice. We want to make sure with the Health Department that it’s safe to go in.
We will keep you advised as we learn more.
Memorial Day Weekend UPDATE
It is with very heavy hearts that Wildwood leadership has made the difficult decision to cancel our Memorial Day activities (kids carnival, both dances, and WCCC concessions at the dances). This decision was not made lightly and there have been some pretty heavy discussions around the best way to proceed. We appreciate the support that our Lot Owners have shown during this Covid crisis and hope that you will understand that the health and safety of our Lot Owners is of the utmost importance to us.
Through all the discussions that we’ve had surrounding Memorial Day, we have come up with an alternate plan. We will have the kids’ carnival on July 4th to make up for not having anything for them over Memorial Day. We are working with the DJ for an alternate date for a dance and are looking forward to a BIG party this summer! We will rescheduled the luau from the original June date to be held early afternoon time frame followed by a dance & concession stand at normal dancing time! So keep your eyes open for an announcement on when we can reschedule. We will have more details very soon.
Again, thank you so much for your support during these strange and difficult times!
Lot Owners Meeting IMPORTANT Information
Our semi-annual Lot Owner’s meeting is typically held the second Saturday in May each Spring. However, due to the global pandemic we are all dealing with, we have moved this to the second Saturday in June instead. Please plan to join us on June 13, 2020 at 1pm in the Clubhouse. Should this date need to be changed again, keep an eye out on our Facebook page or website for updates.
Meeting Update
Due to everything going on in our world with the pandemic, we are forced to make some changes to the way we handle our Wildwood meetings.
The Board and Park Council have already been moved their meetings from the 11th to the 18th in order to make accommodations for Easter. You can see that announcement here. We are now changing the way we are doing the April meetings. Both groups will be holding their meetings via teleconference. We realize this makes it impractical for Lot Owners to attend and appreciate your patience as we try to conduct park business under difficult and unusual circumstances.
As always, minutes for the meetings will be posted to the website. We suggest you take the time to read the minutes as a way to learn what has transpired during our respective meetings. Hopefully, we will be able to get back to some semblance of normalcy in May, and appreciate support and patience as we maneuver through these trying times.
